She's a Kayan from Sarawak so technically she speaks English.
PLUS POINTS!
So I started small talks with her first because she seems like someone who's more comfortable in English instead of Mandarin and our admin speaks to her in English also. The rest of my colleagues said they were "shy" and "aren't good in English" when I asked them to start a conversation with her -.-
They literally said it themselves when I asked them like hey why aren't you guys talking to her when we went out for lunch.
So I fired them with well I am not good in Mandarin myself and they were like ohhhh you're different.

now I think I said before that I'm not that talkative in the office, but it depends on people or the atmosphere really, like I'll get the conversation going if it's a comfortable discussion in Mandarin of course,
but most of the times they're just sprouting bullshit about my RBF when I'm hangry or when they tease me about my manliness or how meaty am I compared to my skinny days so I'll just stay quiet and ignore them lol
I really hate it when they do that!
I kinda exploded the other time because I was on my period HAHHA so my boss and senior engineer were like
Also they sometimes make jokes about how English educated people won't understand their jokes so.
I just can't with them sometimes lol.
SO.
We were just talking during lunch time because we all packed lunch. Now, I'd never packed my lunch to office before, I only packed overnight oats to office because it's kinda like my pre-workout meal before I head home after gym and have proper dinner, but I had last minute plans the day before so my oats were wasted.
Basically I had extra jar of oats so I decided to join the admins (they pack their own lunches) and talk to the new girl over lunch time.
We just had a really good flowing conversation because we're both comfortable in our own language and it's nice because FINALLY THERE'S AN ENGLISH SPEAKER IN THE OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!
She said she's from a Chinese primary school la but she didn't have the opportunity to use Mandarin again after that period so she's like a banana now.
Anyway!
you do NOT know how HAPPY I AM. After conversing in broken Mandarin for 5 years with minimal interactions in English.
That moment.
When I asked her hey what language do you speak at home like do you speak in your own mother tongue or Mandarin etc and she replied with on mostly English because her nieces/nephews don't understand their mother tongues and I was like
my boss told me to speak Mandarin to her so that she can improve but I was like
Hehe.
I SPEAK WHAT I WANTTTTTTTTTT.

I moved out from my company hostel after Chinese New Year.
Yeah it's kinda sudden hahhahahaa.
I just don't feel like staying in the hostel anymore when I can only save half my travel time and my expenses would be almost the same if I drive to work from home anyway lol.
And I figured my mum is alone at home and that worries me because what if anything happens at home and I wouldn't know.
Since my dad is working in Kulim now and will only be back home probably once in a month or two, and my sister only comes back home like a few days in a week or sometimes every 2 weeks. That just leaves ONLY my mum at home and what happens if she's sick or not feeling well or ?!?!?!!?!!!!!
My colleagues kept asking me why do I wanna move back home and I told them repeatedly that my mum is alone at home and just home sweet home, they think I'm giving excuses so inside I'm like fuck you haha it's up to you if you want to believe me or not.
They think it's because I don't wanna work so late anymore.
Like I HAVE THE OPTION NOT TO?!?!
My work remains the same and I leave office around the same time be it staying at home or not.
My boss also kept asking me again if I wanna stay because there's gonna be 2 female engineers moving in so he'll find a nearer hostel.
Thank you for your kind consideration but I'd prefer staying at home with mama love.
